If you have been looking out for a robust smartphone that offers ample memory and doesn't cost a bomb, then you're in luck as Huawei has outed a beefed up version of its popular Mate 9 smartphone in the U.S.
The Mate 9 will now be available in a 128 GB storage option, but that is not the only upgrade which has been made to the handset - it now has 6 GB of RAM.
Huawei's Mate 9 has been available since November 2016 and now the company has quietly outed the upgraded version of the smartphone. Prior to this, the Mate 9's top-end model had 64 GB of on-board storage and 4 GB of RAM.
Rumors that Huawei had a 6 GB of RAM variant of the Mate 9 in the works had been rife in October 2016.
Now the smartphone's 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB storage variant has reportedly gone up for sale on retailers TO2C and Amazon.
Is This Version Any Different?
Unlike the original Mate 9, this version of the smartphone does not sport the colossal 5.9-inch FHD display but a 5.5-inch Curved AMOLED screen per Amazon's listing. Interestingly, the resolution of the handset sees an improvement and is 2560 x 1440 pixels, vis-à-vis the original version's 1920 x 1080 pixels.
The processor on the new variant of the smartphone is the same as the original model and the device packs in the Kirin 960, Octa-core CPU. The GPU for this model is ARM Mali-G71, the same as the original model which has 4 GB of RAM.
The camera of the 6 GB of RAM with 128 GB storage version of the Mate 9 also remains unchanged and it boasts an 8MP selfie snapper.
Huawei has stuck to the same 4000 mAh battery for this variant of the Mate 9. This too comes with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
Price And Availability
This beefed-up Huawei Mate 9 is priced higher than the 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB storage model likely due to the upgrades it boasts. While the 64 GB model retails for $600, the 128 GB variant will set consumers back by $899. The smartphone is now available for purchase on Amazon. However, only three models remained in stock at the time of writing.
The NGP Store USA is listed as the seller and not Huawei so it is not clear if this listing is genuine or a typing error. However, a one-year warranty is being offered on the smartphone.
While the Amazon listing only shows a single color option, TO2C shows all four hues for sale for $764 to $812.99. The price for the 128 GB and 6 GB of RAM version of the Mate 9 on the site is hinged on the color you choose
