A new smartphone from Samsung - the 2017 variant of the Galaxy J7 - has been spotted on a benchmarking site with Android Nougat on board.
Since Samsung has made the Galaxy A (2017) series official, it is expected that the South Korean company will be launching the 2017 version of the Galaxy J7 soon.
The Galaxy J7 (2017) has now been spotted on the benchmarking site Geekbench and it is running on Android 7.0 Nougat per the listing.
Reportedly, somebody who had a prototype of the Galaxy J7 (2017) has run the handset on Geekbench 4, which has offered a peek into the upcoming smartphone's specs and features.
The listing on the benchmarking database reveals that the model number of the impending Samsung handset is SM-J727P. The smartphone recorded a benchmark score of 889 and 4200 for single-core and multi-core performances, respectively.

The listing also shares that the 2017 Galaxy J7houses an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, which is clocked at 2.21 GHz. According to the listing the mobile phone runs on 2 GB of RAM. By comparison, the 2016 version of the handset houses a Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor, clocked at 1.6GHz and 2 GB of RAM.
If the listing is accurate, then Samsung fans would be pleased to have the next-gen variant powered by an enhanced processor. An increase in RAM on the 2017 Galaxy J7 would have also been a bonus for consumers.
This is the only information that can be garnered by the benchmark listing. However, previous rumors have pointed to the smartphone sporting a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1280 x 1080 pixels.
The Galaxy J7 (2017) is also expected to have a 13MP primary camera, as well as a 5MP front-facing snapper to entice selfie lovers.

The device is anticipated to house a 3000 mAh battery. This, however, suggests that the battery capacity of the 2017 variant will be 10 percent less than that of the 2016 model.
Fans of the Galaxy J7 would be hoping that the battery rumor is incorrect and Samsung equips the 2017 model of the phablet with a powerful battery.
The 2016 model of the Galaxy J7 offered 16 GB of on-board storage with the option to further expand the memory to an additional 128 GB via a microSD card. Hopefully, Samsung will equip the Galaxy J7 (2017) also with this feature and possibly increase its on-board storage capacity to 32 GB at the very least.
It is not known when the Galaxy J7 (2017) will be launched by Samsung
